APV is a leading power economics consultancy in Africa, providing strategic research and analysis to governments, regulators, utilities, project developers and electricity consumers.

Projects and Experience

We have been working in Africa electricity markets since 2000. In that time, we have built up a broad understanding of the unique issues faced by governments, regulators, market participants and electricity consumers. We have also learned the value of local partnerships in enhancing project success. It is through our detailed project work in each country, that we have collected accurate data and developed a nuanced understanding of the opportunities and risks for our customers. We will bring all of this experience to bear when we work with you.

Recent Projects

Our past experience focused on traditional advisory services including: cost of service studies; tariff design; policy, legislation and regulation development and price forecasting. We also spent many years building models for utilities to support their project development and O&M activities. More recently, our work has been driven by the development of new supply options, especially Renewable Energy plant and storage options. To this end we also undertake complex generation expansion planning, market modelling and offtake analyses, decarbonisation modelling and clean energy strategies.
